Boy Meets Girl So What "The day I met you The sun began to shine The world turned for the first time When I made you mine Oh the busy mien Smiled for a while When I made you mine, when I made you mine Oh there's nothing else but love There's nothing on else but love It's something so special when A boy meets a girl On whole of the earth there's nothing else but love It's something so special when A boy meets a girl Oh fix me a stiff little dream Oh fetch me a stiff little (??) My love's gone away for good And there's nothing on else but love There's nothing on else but love The day you left me my world fell apart The sun ceased to shine That day you broke my heart And London fell down into the Thames When you broke my heart, when you broke my heart Oh there's nothing else but love There's nothing on else but love It's something so special when A girl leaves (?) a boy On whole of the earth there's nothing else but love It's something so special when A girl meets a boy" So wrote a songwriter hoping to sell A tissue (?) of lies to the record label "Oh all the old clichés they'll never mind I'll stir their emotions for the hundredth time" Oh there's quite enough romance Peddled around these days Without you adding to it Oh don't make it worse On whole of the earth there's something else but love A boy meets a girl, so what? Boy meets girl, so what? Oh why not put your brain into gear And weep about something other than love? A boy meets a girl, so what? A boy meets a girl, so what? A boy meets a girl, so what? Oh why not put your brain into gear And weep about something other than love? A boy meets a girl, so what? A boy meets a girl, so what? A boy meets a girl, so what? notes: Malcolm: This was our longest song so far. It's not at all commercial as a single, but still. There's a fairly flagrant borrowing from a Public Image Limited song in it - a song on Metal Box called Poptones, I think. The lyric was a call for people to write about other subjects than love, which I think is a fair comment. What first appears to be a heartfelt love song quickly becomes a biting jab at the love song "industry" in general. A so-called "new version" appears on the 1989 At War EP. The Thames (pronounced "temz") is a famous river in southern England that runs through London and leads to the ocean. found on: The Enraged Will Inherit the Earth, At War EP
