I Worked Myself Up From Nothing Take a little time to improve your life You have it in you, though there are holes in your shoes Things needn't be so bad Even the lowest of the low can be a millionaire With the right attitude And a little hard work Just up the road the sun will shine Let this happy thought see you through Mothers with your arms to your elbows in the suds Try some positive thinking You will see the joy it brings you You will see the wealth it brings All you young men, you may not have a cent today But just you wait Tomorrow you will be in paradise Just up the road the sun will shine Let this happy thought see you through Around the corner the sun is shining Let this happy thought see you through Take a little time to improve your life You have it in you, though there are holes in your shoes Things needn't be so bad Even the lowest of the low can be a millionaire With the right attitude And a little hard work Just up the road the sun will shine Let this happy thought see you through Just up the road the sun will shine Let this happy thought see you through Mothers with your arms to your elbows in the suds Try some positive thinking You will see the joy it brings you You will see the wealth it brings Oh you young men, you may not have a cent today But just you wait Tomorrow you will be in paradise Just up the road the sun will shine Let this happy thought see you through Around the corner the sun is shining Let this happy thought see you through notes: Malcolm: This is one of my favourite songs of ours. There was a space at the beginning of the song where I didn't know what we'd put. When Laetitia came to do her vocals, she had to sing or say something to test the levels of the microphone, so I suggested she should read the lyrics out. We kept this in at the end. I think the harmonies, the organ and the guitars are nice, and the lyric is quite funny. "Holes in your shoes" recalls We Are All Bourgeois Now. found on: Banking, Violence and the Inner Life Today
