Something Wrong Somewhere

Saw into my sorry state
There was something wrong somewhere
Spoke to me when it was late
Now I can't show my face anywhere

Something wrong
Something wrong somewhere
Something wrong
Something wrong somewhere

The wrong people playing the chords
There was something wrong somewhere
The capital prisons and the House of Lords
Now I can't show my face anywhere

Something wrong
Something wrong somewhere
Something wrong
Something wrong somewhere

With paper burns and sighs and groans
There was something wrong somewhere
Never ever spoke to anyone
Now I can't show my face anywhere

Something wrong
Something wrong somewhere
Something wrong
Something wrong somewhere

Malcolm:

This was quite a popular song among fanzine
writers at the time. I think they liked the amateurishness and the jangling guitars. This was definitely one aspect of the group, but not necessarily the one we tried to promote.

The House of Lords is one of two branches in the British bicameral legislature, comprised mostly of aristocrats and the wealthy as opposed to the House of Commons.

Released as a b-side to McCarthy's first single In Purgatory in 1985.  The title is also included in the opening lines of We Are All Bourgeois Now.
