Unfortunately

Oh let us both go
To a better town
Where money's not scarce
Cause otherwise we'll go
To the Thames of a certain time
Cause otherwise we'll go down
To the certain time

But let us both go
To a better town
Where policemen don't tread
And weigh things on the trial
Cause otherwise we'll go
To the serpent time will go
There's nothing to drink here
No money either
Unfortunately

But maybe somewhere we will find that money
We have always dreamed about
There's no luck in this world and there's no next world
Unfortunately

And so
So let us both go
To a better town
I'm feeling thirsty
Your shoes are worn out

Cause otherwise we'll go to hell
Because we'll go
There's nothing to drink here
No money either
Unfortunately

But maybe somewhere we will find that drink
That we have always dreamed about
There's no luck in this world and there's no next world
Unfortunately

And so
So let us both go
Where money's not scarce

notes:

Malcolm:

I was always quite fond of this one for some reason. The people speaking are a couple with no money and no prospects who vaguely contemplate throwing themselves in the Serpentine, which is a lake in one of London's big parks - Hyde Park, I think.

Appears as a bonus track on the 1990 re-release of I am a Wallet.
