Write To Your MP Today

If you are under attack, I've got news for you
They've got away with it for long
Here's what to do
Here's what to do today

Oh go ahead, don't be afraid
Go on ahead and write to your MP

Oh go ahead, don't be afraid
Go on ahead and write to your MP

If twenty racists are battering at your door
The friends of the thing you trust threaten to make your life hell
Well I've got news for...

If the gay-bashers are throwing rocks at your head
Enough is enough
We must campaign for the return of Labour to power

So go ahead, don't be afraid
Go on ahead and write to...
Oh go ahead, don't be afraid
Go on ahead and write to your MP

notes: MP is Member of Parliament.  One doubts that such letters have any more effect than those to our American congressmen, giving this song a very tongue-in-cheek, or perhaps sarcastic, feel.

Labour is the British Labour Party, the supposed left-wing component in British politics that is currently in power.  While my understanding of British politics is limited, I'll go out on a limb and draw an analogy between Labour and the Democratic Party in the US, and the Conservative Party or Tories, Labour's right-wing counterpart, with the Republicans.  When this song was written, Margaret Thatcher was presumably in power; or if not the woman herself, than her party, the Tories.
